What is the idea behind "Maestros Invitados":

The idea came through the need to invite a group of carefully selected teachers whom we consider to have knowledge and experiences that lead to the maturation of a community of dancers.
All teachers selected for the purpose of maestros invitados 'speak the same language', they are active milongueros and professional teachers and dancers and, most importantly, they maintain an active connection to Buenos Aires both socially and professionally.

Having seen their teaching action, we know that their purpose is not to impress the student, but to help them learn and move one step further.

All teachers are people we already know for a significant amount of time, so as to be sure they are the best choice for conveying all that is needed for dancers looking for something more substantial and more than just one more tango figure.

The topics have been selected after a lot of thinking and discussion with all the teachers. As such, the topics are related and equally important: each one completes the previous or the next as a compact chain of knowledge.

The aim of Maestros Invitados is to bring to light aspects related to how we strengthen our tango in essence, not eg. in quantity.

All teachers involved in Maestros Invitados believe that tango gets better when you help an apprentice understand what is inside tango and not just show him a step.

The purpose of the seminars is to create an incentive for each participant to go deeper, think and act in an active way and be confident about how tango is an expression based on a particular and unique dance culture.

We are very happy that, for the first time in our community, a coordinated effort is made: with a specific structure, with a time planning that allows real dancing development (instead of scarce, random or irrelevant workshops), and, last but not least, with the appropriate maestros for the venture.

Description of Maestros Invitados' structure:

1. Tango Café is an opportunity to get to know each teacher of Maestros Invitados before joining the class with him.
We believe that getting to know each other on a personal level is important for both teachers and students before the lesson begins, so that everyone feels more comfortable and approachable.

It is also an opportunity to present and discuss our concerns in tango, to get answers to possible questions and to share experiences and personal stories that have emerged through the numerous years of each teacher's involvement with tango.

2. Práctica Asistida is a guided practice where the participating teachers will have the opportunity to work on some ideas of movements, resolve practical problem that students face and give them tips on their dance.

3. The seminars are based on an important central idea, that of "milongueando & tango comunicación". 
In a few words, the idea is how to develop our tango skills in the real milonga environment and how to enhance the quality of communication with the person we embrace at every moment.

All seminars are homogenous to the central idea and all teachers will develop their own way of thinking about the subject.

4. Performances/show: Each of the couples will perform in special milongas during the weekends.

Matias Facio 

Matias first began dancing tango in 1995 and since then he is completely immersed in it. The first contact he had with Tango was at his five years of age, when he asked his grandfather, what music was that one that he was listening in his gramophone and made him feel enchanted, he said: it is Tango. So Matias started to listen Tango when he was 16, and very soon had his first lessons.
In March 2002, his passion for dancing and studying tango took him to Buenos Aires where he fully developped his own and unique style, his dance. Many teachers have inspired him at the beginning. Finally he did his own way, a way that never stops. He keeps learning. He keeps improving. Every single step he takes is, for him, an opportunity to learn. In Buenos Aires, his mind and body awareness have been enriched through styles such as Graham, Limon, Cunningham, Flying Low and Feldenkrais. All these ideas technique and concepts were and are a big inspiration for his dance.

He has been teaching tango for around 18 years now. Although he’s based in Berlin, he regularly visits Tango communities all around the globe, from Japan to the USA.
When Teaching…
Matias sees teaching as a process of assisting his students, coaching them into what they need, answering their questions by creating for them a bigger image where the answers are coming surrounded by vast information related to meanings, style and history.
He bases his teaching on body awareness, understanding of the use of the embrace and connection, understanding of musical interpretation and improvisation as the true way for expressing oneself.
He certainly thinks that there is still so much to be explained about Tango Argentino… This is what keeps him doing what has become his main life journey.
