New Group: Τango Musicality for dancers without musical education.
Do you know which is the difference between a strong and a weak beat?

Do you know what is the difference between tempo, beat, and compass?

Do you know what is 3+3+2?

Do you know what is sincopa adelante?

Do you know the different lines (lineas) in tango orchestras and their characteristics?

Can you recognize what is legato and the difference with staccato or marcato?

Even if you know, do you know how to handle all the above in your tango dance?

If the answer is no, please let me help you.

Tango Technique is important, Tango-Steps are important, but when we dance, we dance on tango music, which means that if we know more about it, then we can dance with more quality.

Also, there is a triangle connection between tango music, the tango-technique and the tango-steps that will make you realize a huge variation about how you could use what you already know about them and start to implement different expressions in your dance.

What do I suggest?

It is welcome to have questions and a need for answers and I can help you with this in order to organize the information with a solid share of knowledge. There are hundreds of free tango tutorials but very often the information can mislead you.

TangOnline by TANGart offers already two groups of musicality courses but are already fully booked.

We create a third one, that will start this Saturday 02 of May 21:00 (Greek time)

You can check your local vs Athens time here: time zone converter

The musicality course structure has a 3 months duration and each lesson is around 1,5 hours.

Lesson's Structure

Each lesson is divided into 3 main parts:

- Music Theory for Tango

- Exercises/Movements about Tango

- Homework with exercises that will not take you 1 hour (or less) to make them.

After every lesson,

you will receive notes/material of tango music analysis and exercises on tango songs.

you will receive videos with examples playing Bandoneon, which is really helpful to recognize in a clear way the patterns, music articulations, rhythmical forms, etc.

you will receive video tutorials of exercises with movements that you could practice on them alone or with your partner.

Here are some short examples/samples

The keywords of this course are simplicity & observation.

The course’s direction is to divide the complex music structure of tango in simple examples with sharp/solid analysis that will be easy to understand and implement in your dance.

After many examples and special exercises, you would start to get used to observing faster, deeper, and in a more detailed way what is happening with tango-music and start to be more flexible when you dance in a milonga.

For who is that course?

For people that they dance some months until the professional level that wants to have a structure and ideas for how the tango music should be analyzed.

Who am I...and why you should trust me?

Trust is a very important value between a student and a teacher, and the above question is not so easy to be answered but I will try to give you a short description of me and what we can do together.

I am a tango teacher, based on Athens, with almost 10+ years of experience in tango teaching and co-founder of TANGart Athens which is one of the oldest and bigger tango schools in Greece.

For the last 8 years, I teach specialized musicality workshops and that drove me to start studying Bandoneon in order to help, my students, to understand more clearly the tango music analysis by using it as an additional tool, which is an advantage when we want to analyze “something” in a more precise and deep way.

Also, it was a personal need for my evolution as a tango dancer and especially when with my tango partner follow the line of improvisation during our performances.

It is a combination of knowledge of music, dance, and many other aspects that tango makes us feel that we need and i would like to share what I know with you.

The man behind the music (Thursday 19:00) with Marisol Morales

Every orchestra is different and has a unique way to express their ID in tango through the music.

The connection between the director of the orchestra and the arrangements, the compositions they made, and the interaction between the musicians is an intimate relationship that had given to each orchestra a personality. The objective is to arrive to understand the personalities behind the music to go deeper into what we are dancing and to reflect on the fact that we are also unique...and we need to find the path of reflection about what we feel and what we share when we dance tango.

Photo and music material is shared to all participants during the course.
